Welcome to the Lactation University Volunteer Support Leader's Page
Congratulations! If you have gained access to this page, you are a confirmed Lactation University Volunteer. Please do not share the link to this page or the proprietary curriculum and marketing materials with others.
Now that you are a LUV, you can start documenting your 1,000 hours towards becoming an IBCLC or securing the 250 hours to recertify as an IBCLC. Follow the guide below to get organized and prepare to launch your LUVS Groups.
Now that you are a LUV, you can start documenting your 1,000 hours towards becoming an IBCLC or securing the 250 hours to recertify as an IBCLC. Follow the guide below to get organized and prepare to launch your LUVS Groups.
- Register and complete Launching Communication Skills for the Perinatal Professional. Select an upcoming training date.
- Attend the LUV Leader Training (or watch the LUVS Videos)
- Read Counseling the Nursing Mother
- Download the Tracking Tool for documentation, and remember to submit a PDF of the form quarterly to Lactation University (March, June, September, December).
- Download the LUV Attendance Form to keep track of attendees.
- Determine if you will be hosting prenatal, postpartum, or LUB Club meetings. Leaders must start with one type of meeting and conduct groups for one month prior to requesting permission to add meetings to their offerings.
- Create a Private Personal Facebook Group for your LUV Position (use the format: LUVS, First Name, Optional Last name: LUVS Christy Jo). Copy and past the following description:
- It's true that babies do NOT come with a manual, and even if they did, it would need to be a First Edition for every single birth. No one can tell a parent what is best for their situation, but a community of people who have traveled the same road or are currently on the same quest can offer suggestions, support, comradery and resources. We were never meant to navigate parenthood alone, and with the LUVS Program, we don't have to. This page is ran by a Certified Lactation University Volunteer who has completed an advanced lactation education course and wants to serve you during this time of transition.
- (Edit this section based on your scheduled groups if you do not plan to offer all types of meetings). I offer group meetings, book clubs, text and phone support. Post your questions, suggestions or resources. Feel free to PM me or post anonymously.
- Send a link to your Facebook Page to [email protected]
- Submit your contact information, meeting type and times to the Google LUVS Provider Information Form.
- Read the Introductory page and all curriculums for Prenatal, Postpartum, LUB Clubs (even for the programs that you are not facilitating. We want all LUV to be familiar with all of the options for families).
- Create a Facebook Event Page and select a graphic from the approved options provided by Lactation University.
